Wireless chargers are being deployed in a number of indoor and outdoor applications for charging the mobile robots. | Credit: WiBotic As robot fleets scale, charging becomes an operational challenge. Understanding how to optimize charging for fleets of mobile robots is key to getting the best performance from the fleet throughout the day. Ben Waters, CEO of WiBotic With growing deployments, charging is becoming more than a question of how long a battery lasts or how quickly it can recharge. Char
As robot fleets grow larger, charging strategy becomes a critical operational challenge that affects fleet uptime, facility infrastructure, maintenance needs, and battery size requirements. Opportunity charging, which positions wireless chargers at locations where robots naturally pause during tasks rather than requiring them to travel to centralized charging stations, is emerging as a key solution for large fleets because wireless charging avoids the maintenance burden that contact-based charging would create at scale. Companies should integrate charging considerations into robot design from the start by planning power infrastructure capacity, carefully determining battery size needs based on actual requirements rather than over-designing, and evaluating fast-charging tradeoffs against long-term battery health. Wireless charging enables robots to remain in their operational loops throughout the day by capturing small charging intervals during task execution, potentially allowing continuous 24/7 operation without dedicated downtime for battery maintenance.

Tutor trains its Sonny robot on real-world manipulation tasks. Credit: Eugene Demaitre Real-world data, human “tutors,” and simulation are all part of the recipe for training AI models to enable next-generation robots to tackle a widening variety of tasks. Tutor Intelligence Inc. today said it has raised $75 million in Series B funding as it works toward general-purpose robotics. “It’s not only that Tutor’s models let robots do jobs that robots have never been able to do before,” sta

Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, is apparently pushing the tech company’s development of household robots—and the first to debut may be a home robot designed to autonomously roam around while supporting FaceTime calls and switching lights on whenever a person enters the room. People who worked on Apple’s robotic projects told The Information that the AI-driven home robot, code-named J595, could be named HomeView Ultra in line with Apple’s new HomeView stationary smart display. The company is report
VicOne identified an initial set of 28 zero-day findings in less than two days using AI-assisted research across software and tools supporting the Physical AI ecosystem. These include projects developed or maintained by Google, NVIDIA, and Meta, among others. Based on initial validation, all 28 findings are classified as zero-day vulnerabilities. The count may change following vendor and vulnerability-authority review, and some findings do not yet have CVE tracking numbers. Many of these tools

The new ISO 21423:2026 standard is intended to facilitate communications among different mobile robots. Source: mansyupasara AI, Adobe Stock As fleets of mobile robots grow, the need for interoperability among systems increases. The Association for Advancing Automation, or A3, yesterday published ISO 21423:2026, a new international standard for communications among industrial mobile robots, or IMRs, regardless of vendor or model. “Companies want to choose the robots that fit their applications a
