Gentherm designs ThermAffyx for robotic surgery

The Robot Report: Gentherm designs ThermAffyx to protect, move patients during robotic surgeries

ThermAffyx both securely positions and warms patients during robot-assisted surgeries. Source: Gentherm Many healthcare advances come from within that industry, but innovations from other industries can also find a role. Gentherm Medical has designed its ThermAffyx Patient Safety System based on thermal management experience from the automotive industry. The system both securely positions a patient and provides patient warming for robot-assisted surgery. Gentherm Inc. said ThermAffyx does both w

Get smart on it

Gentherm Medical has designed a patient safety system that combines active warming and secure positioning into a single device for use during robot-assisted surgeries. The system addresses a specific challenge in robotic surgery where patients must remain tilted head-down for extended periods, creating competition for physical space between traditional warming equipment and positioning pads. Medical professionals reported that nearly all their robotic surgery patients experience hypothermia, and the new system is designed to solve both the warming and positioning problems without requiring forced-air equipment or excessive space. The device has received FDA clearance and is currently undergoing trials across the country with adoption at both new and existing customer accounts.

Coming in 2027: Apple’s $1,000 home robot for FaceTime and switching on lights

Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, is apparently pushing the tech company’s development of household robots—and the first to debut may be a home robot designed to autonomously roam around while supporting FaceTime calls and switching lights on whenever a person enters the room. People who worked on Apple’s robotic projects told The Information that the AI-driven home robot, code-named J595, could be named HomeView Ultra in line with Apple’s new HomeView stationary smart display. 28 Zero-Day Findings in Less Than Two Days: What AI-Speed Discovery Means for Robotics

VicOne identified an initial set of 28 zero-day findings in less than two days using AI-assisted research across software and tools supporting the Physical AI ecosystem. These include projects developed or maintained by Google, NVIDIA, and Meta, among others. Based on initial validation, all 28 findings are classified as zero-day vulnerabilities. The count may change following vendor and vulnerability-authority review, and some findings do not yet have CVE tracking numbers. Many of these tools

Why physical AI is the next lucrative frontier

Genesis AI recently unveiled the Eno robot to bring physical AI into commercial environments. Source: Genesis AI The fastest-growing market categories have humble beginnings. Physical AI, the combination of robotics and advanced artificial intelligence, is just the latest example. ChatGPT began as a pitch deck at an accelerator before it became a household name in 2023. Before cloud computing became a boardroom imperative, founders were building it, server rack by server rack, cluster by cluster

Solving the Interconnect Challenge in Modern Robotics: How 3M Is Engineering for Motion, Density, and Uptime

By Heilind Electronics As robotics systems grow more capable — faster, more precise, and increasingly reliant on AI-driven vision and control — the humble interconnect is being asked to do more than ever. Signal integrity, mechanical durability, and board real estate are no longer secondary considerations in robotics design; they’re often the limiting factor. 3M has built out a portfolio of connectors, cables, and cable assemblies aimed squarely at these pressure points, and the company&#
