NVIDIA releases Auto Ontology semantic layer for AI agent SQL

MarkTechPost: NVIDIA Releases Auto Ontology: An Open Semantic Layer That Grounds AI Agent SQL

NVIDIA has released Auto Ontology, an open library under the Apache 2.0 license. NVIDIA Auto Ontology is a semantic layer framework that builds a context layer from enterprise metadata. Agents use that layer to write SQL against certified business definitions. The repository states the problem plainly: a fast revenue answer is worthless if the number is wrong. TL;DR Library: Default LLM is nvidia/nemotron-3-nano-30b-a3b, with Nemotron embedding and reranking models. Runs on: Docker

Get smart on it

NVIDIA has released Auto Ontology, an open semantic layer that helps AI agents write accurate SQL queries by providing context about where data lives and what business terms mean. The system sits between an agent and a data warehouse, translating natural language questions into SQL while ensuring queries use certified business definitions rather than raw database schemas. Auto Ontology can be deployed locally with Docker or on Kubernetes, accepts various data sources and AI models, and exposes its capabilities through an MCP server, CLI, and REST API. While NVIDIA reports a 90 percent reduction in ontology creation time in its own testing, no published accuracy benchmarks are available yet, requiring users to run their own evaluations to verify performance.

OpenAI sets new behavioral guidelines for AI models that have already proven hard to control

OpenAI has updated its Model Spec, restructuring its AI behavior guidelines around five core values, including faithfulness to human intent and correctability. GPT models should now draw on conversation history to figure out what users actually want and disclose their own assumptions. Whether the models follow these rules is another matter.
