Data Center Knowledge: Microsoft Pushes Custom AI Chips with Azure Maia 300
Microsoft unveiled Maia 300, its third-generation AI chip, as Maia 200 goes live, powering Copilot.
Part of a story that several outlets report: Microsoft scales custom Maia AI chips to gigawatt levels by 2027
Microsoft unveiled its third-generation custom AI chip, called Maia 300, while its second-generation Maia 200 chip is now powering services like Copilot across Microsoft's data centers. The Maia 300 is designed for inference workloads and is expected to deliver significantly better performance than the previous generation when deployed in production in 2027. Unlike competitors Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud, which offer their custom chips to customers via public cloud services, Microsoft is using Maia chips primarily for its own internal operations to improve efficiency and service quality. This strategy represents a shift in how hyperscalers compete, focusing on delivering faster and more reliable services at lower cost rather than on traditional chip competition.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced $2 billion in European investments and new stakes in French startups like Doctolib and Entalpic. The UK gets $250 million in compute for AI agent safety and security research. Huang pitched open-weight models as Europe's way to close the AI gap. The article Nvidia's Jensen Huang pledges $2 billion for Europe, $250 million in compute for UK safety labs appeared first on The Decoder.

The founders detailed how their startup is developing AI that can design chips, learn from each iteration, and improve subsequent designs, all with the goal of automating and accelerating the chip design process.

US data center land spending hit roughly $6 billion in the first half of 2026, as power access now drives land value and pricing more than location alone.

AI is pushing data center cooling to its limits, so the real advantage comes from integrating smart sensing, motor control, and power management into a single responsive, failure-anticipating system.
AI factories run on graphics processing units that cost a fortune and work at blistering speed, yet those chips increasingly sit idle waiting for data. As the bottleneck moves from compute to memory and storage, NAND flash is being asked to do far more than hold files. That shift is putting data movement constraints at […] The post ScaleFlux bets smarter SSD controllers can break the AI memory bottleneck appeared first on SiliconANGLE.

Nvidia’s new SoC is available in Windows laptops from six different manufacturers. We’ve collectively tested four of them so far. | Photo: Antonio G. Di Benedetto / The Verge Nvidia's RTX Spark N1X processor is finally here, and we've been collectively testing a small fortune's worth of powerful laptops sporting this new "superchip." RTX Spark is designed to be a high-performing Arm-based SoC for laptops and small desktop computers, rivaling the best from Apple, Intel, AMD, and
