The new version was constructed from scratch rather than updated incrementally and promises improvements to loading, scrolling, notifications, and overall reliability. The rebuild was prioritized because Android is the dominant smartphone platform in global markets and the previous Android app had significant performance problems, including being unable to load posts when users clicked links. The company plans to add additional features to Android soon, including a new video editor and support for Spaces, its live audio feature.
