Two of four new updates involve AI: an upgraded conversation reporting feature that lets drivers use voice commands to report traffic incidents and suggest map updates, and a new Destination Search function enabling voice commands to find destinations like coffee shops or gas stations with specific criteria. Two non-AI updates include a "less chatty" voice prompt mode so drivers can listen to music or podcasts while using directions, and a Motorcycle Mode with two-wheeled shortcuts and improved route estimates. The app will also suggest routes based on a driver's past trips and local traffic patterns, while Google Maps has been receiving more AI capabilities as the parent company expands its control over its flagship navigation tool.
