Vercel open-sources durable-harness for coding agents

MarkTechPost: Vercel Open-Sources durable-harness for Crash-Proof Coding Agents

Vercel has released durable-harness, an open-source package that keeps coding agent sessions alive through crashes and timeouts. Vercel durable-harness wraps existing harnesses, including Pi, OpenCode, Claude Code and Codex, without changing them. Each session lives in a durable log. A dead function no longer means lost work. For teams moving agents off laptops and into the cloud, that closes a real gap. TL;DR Size: npm package, version 0.0.x, Apache-2.0. Adapters cover 5 harnesses: Pi,

Get smart on it

Coding agents are software programs that write code, but when they run in cloud environments they can lose their work if they crash or timeout because the session lives only in the computer's memory. An open-source package keeps these agent sessions alive by recording each step in a durable log, so if the system fails, a new instance can read what finished and continue without repeating completed work or re-running tool calls that cost money. The package works with multiple existing coding agents and can run on cloud services, self-hosted databases, or local laptops using the same code across all environments. Currently in experimental form, it addresses a practical gap for teams moving coding agents from personal computers into cloud infrastructure.
