The tool, powered by an AI detection company, is rolling out across web and iOS platforms to address what the platform calls "Claudefishing," which occurs when readers unknowingly invest attention in content with no human thought behind it. Substack's cofounder argues the issue is not people using AI itself, but rather a mismatch between reader expectations and reality, which can undermine trust in authorship and threaten writers' livelihoods. Creators can also use the tool to scan their own drafts and add statements explaining their writing process to increase transparency.
