Anthropic has expanded Claude Cowork, an AI agent that performs digital tasks, so it can now run on smartphones and continue working even after a user closes their laptop. Previously, the agent required users to keep their desktop app open and active to complete tasks. This update is part of a broader trend in the technology industry toward always-running AI agents that users can control through their phones. The feature will first roll out to subscribers of Anthropic's Max plan, with plans to eventually expand to cheaper subscription tiers.
