Roblox's new "Build" feature lets users generate basic games using a single text prompt.
Roblox has launched a mobile app feature that uses AI to generate games from simple text descriptions, allowing users without programming experience to create and share games. The feature will rank AI-generated games based on player retention, so low-quality games will not be prominently displayed, similar to how other games on the platform are ranked. This development reflects a broader industry trend, as similar tools have been built by other major companies, though game developers have expressed concerns that AI-powered game creation could flood platforms with low-quality and repetitive content while increasing competition for human creators. According to a recent industry survey, 52 percent of game industry professionals believe generative AI is having a negative impact on the industry.
