John Deere launched an AI chatbot for farmers

John Deere is testing a new AI assistant called "JD" designed to help farmers by answering questions about their operations and equipment using their own farm data, such as information about field performance, machine settings, and fuel usage. The company released a 10-point Farmer Data Commitment stating it will not sell farm data and will let farmers control which third parties can access their information. This announcement comes after years of disputes between John Deere, farmers, and the FTC over repair rights, making the data privacy pledge a notable part of the rollout. The AI assistant is currently available to select US customers and will eventually expand to web, mobile, and tractor displays, with plans to add capabilities for other industries like turf, construction, and forestry.
