Google’s new AI transcription edits out your ‘ums’ and ‘ahs’

Google has introduced new transcription capabilities within its Gemini Audio models that automatically remove filler words like "um" and "uh" while also detecting specialized jargon across more than 85 languages. The new Gemini 3.5 Transcribe model represents an advancement over the previous transcription technology and allows users to edit transcriptions using voice commands while providing word-level timestamps and speaker attribution for up to three speakers. This matters because the technology aims to improve precision for voice-controlled AI features without being disrupted by background noise or interrupted speech. The rollout is beginning for macOS Gemini app users and Android dictation features in select countries and languages.
