
The updates indicate that Google is looking to position AI Mode as an AI travel agent of sorts, as it's moving beyond simply helping users find information to actually handling parts of the trip-planning and booking process.
Google announced new travel planning features for AI Mode, its conversational search experience. Users can now track flight prices across more than 300 airlines and travel sites, book hotels through integrated partners, and see costs displayed in points or miles. This represents a shift toward positioning AI Mode as a travel agent that not only finds information but also handles booking and transaction processes. Flight price tracking is available in more than 180 countries, while hotel booking is rolling out in the U.S. with options from major hotel chains and travel platforms.
