Flock reportedly tries to shrink workforce with employee buyouts

Flock Safety, a surveillance technology company, is offering voluntary severance packages to employees in an effort to reduce its workforce. The company expects a significant portion of its 1,500 employees to take the buyouts and says it will grant them to most who are interested. This move comes amid substantial backlash over the company's license plate recognition technology, including documented cases of police misuse and numerous cities dropping the service. Without these voluntary departures, the company indicated it would almost certainly need to conduct involuntary layoffs.
