Google DeepMind has launched ATL Saathi, an AI assistant powered by Gemini that helps teachers at Atal Tinkering Labs across India by providing curriculum planning, training support, and project generation tools. The tool addresses a shift from simply providing access to technology like 3D printing and robotics toward delivering better mentorship and learning outcomes for students. ATL Saathi offers features including organized curriculum materials, AI-generated project ideas tailored to student grade levels, step-by-step guidance for student-proposed experiments, and support in eight languages. The pilot program is rolling out to an initial cohort of schools with the goal of reducing teachers' administrative burden and enabling them to focus more on mentoring and inspiring students to innovate.
