Cursor makes its biggest India push yet ahead of SpaceX acquisition with localized pricing

Cursor, an AI coding startup awaiting acquisition by SpaceX, has launched a country-specific subscription plan in India priced at approximately $7 per month, significantly below its standard $20-a-month Pro subscription. India is already Cursor's third-largest market globally with its highest concentration of power users, and the company is using localized pricing to expand access in a country home to more than 27 million developers on GitHub. The lower-priced plan includes access to some AI coding features but excludes frontier models from providers like OpenAI and Anthropic, making it commercially sustainable through Cursor's own lower-cost AI models. Other major AI companies including OpenAI and Anthropic have similarly rolled out India-specific pricing plans as they compete in one of the world's fastest-growing AI markets.
