ChatGPT lets users lock individual conversations

TechCrunch: ChatGPT now lets you lock your chats

The company says the feature is designed for situations where users might be discussing something personal or planning a surprise and want to keep those conversations private when handing their device to friends or family to show them something in another chat.

Get smart on it

ChatGPT users can now lock individual conversations using a four-digit PIN, Face ID, or Touch ID to keep sensitive chats private when others access their device or screen. Locked chats remain accessible to the user at any time and appear in a separate section, unlike temporary chats that leave no history. The feature does not create end-to-end encryption, change how long chats are retained, or affect how sensitive information is stored by the company. The locked chats option is rolling out across most ChatGPT subscription tiers but is unavailable for temporary chats, archived chats, group chats, and certain other chat types.
