Meta's Muse, an AI companion app, reached 10 million U.S. downloads in its first 40 days, joining only 11 other apps in achieving this milestone. The company heavily invested in advertising to promote Muse, allocating 39% of its total ad spend to the app in October, and the app has maintained better user retention rates than competing AI applications like ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok. Muse benefited from Meta's ability to market it across its family of apps that collectively have 3.6 billion daily active users, similar to how the company had successfully launched Threads. The app currently ranks as the number one app on both the U.S. App Store and Google Play over the past 30 days.
