A company announced new surgical features for its AI platform designed to help physicians identify cancerous tissue and map the extent of disease in three dimensions during prostate cancer procedures. The expansion adds tools that allow surgeons to view enhanced 3D maps during both robotic and non-robotic surgeries, adjust visualizations to match the surgical camera angle, and access risk scores in real time to guide nerve-sparing decisions. Research cited in the announcement indicates the AI system predicts cancer spread with higher accuracy than MRI alone and can substantially reduce cancer recurrence by cutting positive surgical margins in half. The platform previously served as a decision-support tool before surgery and now extends this capability into the operating room itself.
