The keyboard is a limited-run collaboration with a specialty keyboard designer and appears positioned as a novelty product marking OpenAI's entry into hardware. This release comes amid a legal dispute in which Apple is suing OpenAI, alleging the company extracted confidential information to develop its own hardware devices. OpenAI is also reportedly developing a portable, screenless smart speaker with moving mechanical elements, designed by former Apple engineers, though the device remains in development and subject to change.
