Xpanner has announced an automated pile-driving robot designed to install posts for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage sites. The system uses high-precision GPS and onboard sensors to place each pile accurately while being supervised by a single operator, addressing a shortage of skilled construction crews. Solar and battery storage builders are racing to install new power capacity for the electrical grid and data centers, creating demand for automation that can maintain pace without large crews. The robot operates through a mixed purchase-and-subscription model, where customers buy or rent the equipment and then pay monthly licensing fees for the automation software.
