A company has unveiled a dual-arm robot designed to work alongside humans without safety fences or cages, using an embedded safety system that provides continuous awareness of its surroundings and reacts autonomously when a person enters its path. The robot can lift up to 70 pounds and move at high speeds while maintaining safety, addressing a key challenge in deploying industrial robots in shared spaces. This matters because it potentially enables faster automation deployment in manufacturing, logistics, and other environments where traditional robots require expensive safety infrastructure like fences. The technology builds on the company's previous single-arm robot model, which was certified to international safety standards and has already demonstrated that industrial speeds can be achieved without compromising safety.
