Hugging Face's robotics division has launched a small robot called the Microduck, a one-eyed biped standing just under 10 inches tall that can rollerskate, pick up objects, and react to its surroundings. The robot is available for preorder at $399 and is designed with open-source software, meaning users can retrain it to perform new tasks. Each Microduck generates its own unique voice when it first powers on, which it retains throughout its lifetime, allowing it to communicate through distinctive sounds rather than functioning as a traditional assistant. The robot is equipped with a processor, camera, motion sensors, LiDAR, and articulated legs, head, and neck.
