The company has replaced its collection of crop‑specific AI vision models with a single “large plant model” that understands plant structure across regions and species, allowing farmers to instantly tune Carbon’s laser weeder to their own definition of crops and weeds. Carbon Robotics has developed a foundation model for agriculture that allows farmers to customize an autonomous laser weeder for different crops and weeds without time-consuming retraining. Instead of requiring new AI models for each crop or region, farmers use an iPad app to tag a small number of plants from their own fields as "crop" or "weed," and the foundation model instantly adjusts its behavior to match those definitions. The partnership with iMerit involved labeling millions of plant images to train this model, scaling up from the company's initial manual labeling efforts. Carbon Robotics is also expanding into tractor automation with a kit designed to retrofit existing tractors for autonomous weeding and other farming workflows.

Collaborative robot arms from JAKA Robotics (left) and Universal Robots. Get the popcorn ready. The patent fight between Teradyne Robotics and JAKA Robotics has turned into a full-blown public brawl. Teradyne, parent company of Universal Robots, sued JAKA’s German subsidiary last week, alleging infringement of patents covering hardware and software used in its cobot arms. Today, JAKA hit back, saying it has gone to court seeking injunctive relief over what it calls Teradyne’s “false, misleading,

NexCOBOT, which exhibited at the Robotics Summit & Expo, provides a range of controllers. Source: NexCOBOT Humanoid robotics and physical AI developers are not only raising billions of dollars; they’re also getting acquired by big technology companies. This has implications for industrial adoption, according to Jenny Shern, general manager of NexCOBOT. For instance, Mobileye acquired Mentee Robotics for $900 million in January, Amazon bought Fauna Robotics in March, and Meta picked up
