ANYbotics has begun delivering a legged robot designed to operate safely in explosive atmospheres found in oil, gas, and chemical facilities. The robot is certified to meet strict safety standards in hazardous zones where standard robots are banned and human workers face significant risks. The company spent four years developing the robot with more than 10 patents, addressing the challenge of certifying a mobile robot for explosive environments by making each component explosion-proof without sacrificing the robot's mobility or capability. The robot can conduct autonomous inspections to reduce both the costs of manual inspection labor and downtime caused by undetected equipment failures, which the company states cost large companies roughly 1.4 trillion dollars annually in preventable losses.
