Our approach to bioresilience

Google DeepMind and Isomorphic Labs are announcing a joint approach to bioresilience, which addresses how AI can both prevent misuse and help defend against biological threats like disease outbreaks. The work involves two main efforts: stopping threat actors from misusing AI models, and enabling governments and scientists to use these technologies to detect and respond to infectious diseases more quickly and effectively. The organizations are making their AI systems available to trusted partners in three areas: preventing misuse through safety processes and DNA screening technology, detecting outbreaks faster through optimized analysis tools, and responding to threats by accelerating vaccine and treatment design. This effort aligns with broader work on managing chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear risks.
