Omen AI acquires Aquatic Labs for $16 million

TechCrunch: Omen AI adds liquid know-how in $16 million Aquatic Labs acquisition

Two startups tackling the data center water problem are joining forces in a $16 million deal.

Get smart on it

Omen AI, a company founded to monitor cooling fluids in data centers, acquired competitor Aquatic Labs for $16 million in a cash-and-stock deal. Data centers currently use billions of gallons of water annually to cool chips, with that usage expected to triple within five years, making water management a significant cost and political concern for AI infrastructure investors. The combined company will merge complementary sensor technologies, with one detecting elements in water and the other testing alkalinity, to automate a process that previously required sending samples to laboratories over multiple days. The integrated sensor is expected to reach the market by early next year and help data center operators extend fluid lifespan and reduce shutdown costs from equipment protection concerns.
