Get smart on it

Dulo Inc., a startup co-founded by AI researcher Sebastian Thrun, has raised $130 million in funding from prominent investors including a former Google CEO, venture capitalists, and startup funds. The company is developing foundation models optimized for hardware design tasks, with a stated focus on facilitating manufacturing at lightspeed, and may be working to speed up engineering simulations or the development of industrial robots and autonomous vehicles. Thrun previously co-founded Google's X research lab and led the program that became Waymo, while co-founder Adrian Aoun sold an earlier natural language processing startup to Google. Dulo competes in a growing space of engineering-focused AI startups, with a notable rival being Prometheus Inc., which raised $12 billion earlier this year to speed up development of complex hardware systems.
