Dazzle is a personal AI assistant that analyzes photos from a user's camera roll to understand their interests, hobbies, preferences, and lifestyle. Unlike competing AI assistants that build context from email and calendar data, Dazzle takes a different approach by using only photos as its information source. The assistant offers two main functions: it can scan recent photos to help with immediate tasks like populating calendars from event flyers, and it can mine photo libraries to generate personalized suggestions for activities, vacations, and gifts. Mayer argues that photos contain more meaningful information about a person's life than traditional data sources, and she positions Dazzle as a privacy-focused alternative to other AI assistants by discarding any personal information flagged as sensitive.
