Uber fulfilled 4 rides from AI agents last quarter

The Verge: Uber only fulfilled 4 rides from AI agents last quarter

AI agents won't be stealing Uber's lunch any time soon. Only four rides were arranged by third-party AI agents during the third quarter of 2026, Uber executives disclosed during an earnings call this morning. The volume of Uber Eats orders fulfilled by AI agents was a little higher, with the company recording "around 500" during the week of Halloween, out of a total 320 million Uber rides and Uber Eats deliveries. Uber disclosed that third-party AI agents arranged only four rides on its platform during the third quarter of 2026, with around 500 food deliveries, out of a total 320 million transactions. Some experts have predicted that platforms like Uber face a risk of "disintermediation," where customers use AI agents to order or book rides instead of using the app directly. However, the low numbers suggest this risk remains minimal in the early stages, as AI agents still have significant friction points and platform operators have little incentive to allow them to replace direct customer engagement. Uber's executives expressed openness to working with third-party AI companies while remaining confident that customers will prefer using the Uber app directly.

OpenAI's upcoming chat-and-work merger in ChatGPT signals the end of all-you-can-prompt pricing

OpenAI combines the Chat and Work modes into a single interface. Starting in December, Plus, Pro, and Business plans will share a common, token-based quota for ChatGPT and Codex. More complex models consume more of this quota, while simple instant chats do not count toward it. In practice, this is likely to result in a decline in ChatGPT’s quality for heavy users on lower-cost plans. Apple starts giving Siri AI access to third-party apps

Apple will now let Siri AI perform actions across third-party apps. As part of the iOS 27.3 update rolling out on Tuesday, Apple announced developers can now integrate Siri AI's new features in "all apps," allowing the voice assistant to draw on a user's personal context, process natural language prompts, and use on-screen awareness to complete requests.
