I tried Apple’s Siri Recaps. They’re surprisingly useful, and a little unsettling

Apple's AI-powered Siri Recaps won me over in just one day, despite my privacy reservations. But there's still room for improvement.

Get smart on it

Apple has rolled out new Audio Intelligence features in testing that include Siri Recaps, which records and summarizes conversations throughout a user's day on Apple Watch. The feature raises privacy concerns because it continuously listens to audio, though Apple processes the data on-device and does not store raw audio files or identify speakers. In testing, the feature proved useful for capturing important information shared verbally, such as repair costs and time frames, but also captured non-essential details like casual dinner conversation, creating a tradeoff between utility and the unsettling sense of constant surveillance. The author suggests improvements such as better organization of captured information and easier editing options.

OpenAI's upcoming chat-and-work merger in ChatGPT signals the end of all-you-can-prompt pricing

OpenAI combines the Chat and Work modes into a single interface. Starting in December, Plus, Pro, and Business plans will share a common, token-based quota for ChatGPT and Codex. Apple starts giving Siri AI access to third-party apps

Apple will now let Siri AI perform actions across third-party apps. As part of the iOS 27.3 update rolling out on Tuesday, Apple announced developers can now integrate Siri AI's new features in "all apps," allowing the voice assistant to draw on a user's personal context, process natural language prompts, and use on-screen awareness to complete requests. The update, which is rolling out as part of a Developer Preview, also adds a new "app skills" feature that third-party develo
