ChatGPT Ads is an advertising platform that OpenAI is expanding to seven additional markets across Southeast Asia and Taiwan, bringing the service to over 60 countries total. Ads appear only to users on ChatGPT's free and lower-cost plans, while paid subscribers see no ads, and the platform reached $1 billion in annualized revenue within less than 200 days of launch. OpenAI states that ads are labeled separately from ChatGPT's responses, conversations remain private from advertisers, and customer data is not sold, while ads aim to be useful by reaching people as they evaluate options and make decisions.
