Saber denies replacing Rideshare Stimulator’s writers with ChatGPT
After a former lead writer claimed Saber "replaced me with ChatGPT," CEO Matthew Karch now claims, "Neither Saber nor Unigine have replaced any writers with AI," for the Rideshare "Stimulator" game announced last month, developed by Unigine. The writer, Stella Sacco, says differently, however, posting on Bluesky that "I was lead writer on this one! And Saber replaced me with ChatGPT midway through development. A video game developer's CEO denied claims that the company replaced writers with ChatGPT while developing a rideshare simulation game announced last month. A former lead writer for the project posted on social media saying she was replaced by ChatGPT midway through development and that AI generated passenger voices, but the CEO stated that neither the developer nor its parent company replaced any writers with AI, adding only that an experimental free-ride mode uses AI due to the infinite number of passengers. The game's Steam listing contains no disclosure about generative AI use, and the former writer responded to the CEO's denial by stating that the company cannot claim both that writers wrote the story and that computers wrote the text.
