PSA: Your Claude shared chats and Artifacts may have ended up on Google
The issue appears to have originated from Claude’s “share chat” feature, which allows users to create links that enable anyone with the assigned URL view a conversation or project.

An untold number of Claude chats and Artifacts were found publicly searchable on Google after users discovered that search operators surfaced shared conversations that were intended to be viewed only by people with direct links. Some of the exposed conversations reportedly contained health records, private company documents, and names and phone numbers of children. Anthropic attributed the exposure to users posting share links in publicly visible places like forums or social media, though the company does not share chat directories or sitemaps with search engines. As of Monday afternoon, testing showed the exposure had been remedied, though a similar incident occurred the previous year when hundreds of Claude chats were indexed by search engines.
