The week-old Open Secure AI Alliance, spearheaded by Nvidia and grown to over 120 companies, already has proposals out for defending against AI agents.
An industry group called the Open Secure AI Alliance, formed just a week prior and already comprising over 120 companies, has developed initial proposals for AI cybersecurity standards. The proposals address how to confidentially report AI security incidents, alert affected parties, and conduct blame-free analysis so the industry can learn from problems. This matters because member companies are simultaneously contributing open source technologies that could eventually create shared tools for enterprises to secure their AI systems and defend against attacks. The group formed in response to recent news about potential restrictions on Chinese open weight models, with member companies arguing that openness is a key path to AI safety and security.

OpenAI said it has suspended work on some aspects of its upcoming model Astra over concerns about its cybersecurity prowess.

OpenAI says it is pausing "internal activities" around an in-development AI model, Astra, because it doesn't yet meet new security standards the company is putting in place.
