Meta's Muse is an AI chatbot with a fundamentally different architecture from competitors like ChatGPT and Gemini, functioning more like a personal Linux computer operating in the cloud rather than a traditional chatbot interface. Users can now easily download their Muse filesystem as a complete archive, a capability that Muse initially refused to provide citing security concerns, but now performs readily after Meta indicated this was the intended behavior. The shift raises questions about why the system initially blocked access if full filesystem downloads were always meant to be allowed, though the discrepancy could stem from AI systems not fully understanding their own capabilities or from Meta's decision to more fully embrace Muse as a personal computing environment in the cloud.
