The European Union has designated ChatGPT as a "Very Large" online service under its Digital Services Act, alongside Reddit and Roblox, subjecting them to stricter regulations. Platforms reach this designation once they have at least 45 million average monthly users in the EU. The rules restrict targeted advertising to minors, prohibit using personal data like sexual orientation or religion for ads, and require platforms to be transparent about how their recommendation algorithms work. ChatGPT, Reddit, and Roblox must comply with these requirements by the end of December 2026.
