OpenAI contends that Apple's lawyers contacted the wrong person due to confusion over names, that no discussion with OpenAI's General Counsel occurred as Apple claimed, and that Apple waited five months after saying issues were being resolved before filing suit. The statement includes messages showing Apple employees asked a former employee to help locate and transfer files after he left the company, which OpenAI argues contradicts Apple's accusation that the former employee improperly accessed confidential information. OpenAI states it does not want or possess Apple's trade secrets and offered to work with Apple to resolve the matter before litigation.
