While these technologies remain experimental and years away from commercial use, they could potentially address current data center challenges by reducing power consumption and network bottlenecks that limit AI growth. The research involves universities, national laboratories, and major industry participants working to move quantum technologies from isolated breakthroughs toward practical applications that data center operators could eventually deploy.
