doubleAI, a Tel Aviv-based AI developer, raised $200 million in Series A funding led by two venture firms and backed by major technology companies including Nvidia and Dell. The company has created an AI model called Maxwell that automatically makes software code more efficient by analyzing how programs interact with data and underlying chips, and it operates on program binaries rather than source code, eliminating the need for manual developer changes. Maxwell has demonstrated capabilities beyond code optimization, including breaking a nearly 50-year-old chess record and contributing to mathematical discoveries, positioning doubleAI to compete with other AI developers working on research automation. The company plans to use half the funding to purchase graphics processors and sell Maxwell to enterprises seeking to reduce their AI workloads' hardware requirements.
