Modulate deploys its models to detect deepfake, fraud and scam
A Boston-based voice intelligence startup has raised $25 million to develop its platform that analyzes voice data for enterprises, offering capabilities including transcription, emotional analysis, deepfake detection, and monitoring of AI agents in regulated industries. The company runs over 100 small models that extract vocal information like emotion and tone, while also detecting intent behind conversations and identifying potential scams or policy violations. This funding reflects investor interest in the growing voice AI sector, particularly in companies addressing concerns around AI-generated voices and deepfakes as voice cloning becomes easier. The startup's approach of using multiple smaller models rather than large ones allows it to operate without specialized hardware while making it easier to add new detection capabilities as voice AI technology evolves.
