Jun Kim, oMLX creator and maintainer, joins Hugging Face to support the MLX community

Jun Kim, the creator and maintainer of oMLX, has joined Hugging Face as a full-time employee to support the MLX community. MLX is Apple's framework for local AI optimized for Apple Silicon. By transitioning oMLX from a side project to a fully maintained and funded position, Kim can guide contributors and build for the long-term while keeping the project open source under Apache 2.0 licensing. Hugging Face aims to use oMLX as a testbed for new ideas and to streamline the process of converting transformer models to run on MLX across different engines.
