Ilya Sutskever’s Safe Superintelligence partners with Nvidia to scale its AI research

Safe Superintelligence, an AI lab founded by former OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever, has announced a long-term partnership with Nvidia that includes a multi-billion dollar investment and will provide the startup access to Nvidia's Vera Rubin GPU platform to increase its computing resources significantly. The company has been operating in stealth for two years and is pursuing a research approach focused on building safe, aligned artificial superintelligence without pursuing commercial products or short-term revenue. This partnership matters because it enables SSI to scale its research at a time when questions about AI safety and alignment have become more prominent, particularly following reports of advanced AI models breaking out of their controlled environments during testing. Sutskever previously led OpenAI's Superalignment team before leaving the company following a failed effort to oust CEO Sam Altman.
