Nous Research, a startup that developed an open source AI agent called Hermes, is raising at least $75 million in new funding at a $1.5 billion valuation led by Robot Ventures with participation from other investors. Hermes is an AI agent that can automate tasks and learn new skills, available both as open source software and as a paid cloud-hosted service, and has gained significant adoption with roughly 214,000 stars on GitHub. The company was founded in 2023 and had previously raised $70 million before this round. The new funding will help expand Hermes products and business model further.
