Jane Street has installed Etched's first shipped AI cluster system, and was so impressed, it led another massive round, the startup says.
Will Etched's valuation be confirmed above $20B by September 2026?

Etched, an AI hardware startup, raised $700 million at a $21 billion valuation, with the investment led by a major quant fund that tested the company's technology. The valuation more than doubled in one month, up from $10.3 billion in July, representing an unusually rapid increase even for the AI industry. Etched designed two new components to speed up AI inference, the computing process that occurs after a user submits a prompt: a prefill chip that operates at low voltage to process tokens faster, and a cluster-scale memory system that allows multiple chips to share memory at high speed and low latency. The company's approach to inference hardware promises higher speeds and lower costs compared to existing solutions.
