NVIDIA Kumo Relational outperforms supervised machine learning

Hugging Face: NVIDIA Kumo Relational Outperforms Supervised Machine Learning on Relational Data, No Training Required

The system suggests AI models may not need extensive training pipelines to handle structured data tasks, potentially streamlining how companies build database applications.

Get smart on it

NVIDIA Kumo Relational is a pre-trained foundation model that makes predictions directly on relational databases without requiring task-specific training or feature engineering. The model works by reading up to 10,000 historical examples as context and predicting outcomes such as churn, demand, or fraud in a single forward pass, while respecting the database's tables, foreign keys, and timestamps rather than flattening data into a single table. According to the source, it outperforms supervised machine learning approaches and expert-engineered gradient-boosted tree pipelines across 41 tasks on 15 databases, beating AutoGluon ensembles by 8 percent on an enterprise benchmark. This represents a shift in structured data modeling similar to how foundation models simplified language and vision tasks by replacing task-specific pipelines with a single pre-trained model.

Claude Science tackles deadly scorpion stings by designing protein binders from scratch

Anthropic's Claude independently designed protein binders targeting deadly scorpion neurotoxins. Out of more than 318,000 designs, 211 were tested in the lab. Seventeen met the criteria, and the two strongest bind extremely tightly to Cn2, a toxin from a Mexican scorpion. Whether they actually work as antivenom remains an open question. Inception says Mercury 3 beats GPT-6 Luna and Claude Haiku 5.5 at up to 8x the speed

Diffusion language model startup Inception AI Inc. today released Mercury 3, its new flagship model. In the company’s own benchmarks, Mercury 3 beat OpenAI Group PBC’s GPT-6 Luna and Anthropic PBC’s Claude Haiku 5.5 on eight of 12 tests at four to eight times their speed. The release takes on the main doubt about Inception’s […] The post Inception says Mercury 3 beats GPT-6 Luna and Claude Haiku 5.5 at up to 8x the speed appeared first on SiliconANGLE.

Four Gemini 4 Argon agents beat Minecraft without any human help

Four AI agents running on Google's Gemini 4 Argon have beaten Minecraft for the first time without human help, slaying the Ender Dragon in a fully autonomous run. With no predefined roles or strategies, they coordinated on their own, wrote 2,783 programs, exchanged 229 chat messages, and died 605 times. The session cost $1,620. Anthropics' Claude cracks a 25-year-old NSA cryptography mystery in under 30 minutes

Anthropic's AI model Claude has solved a 25-year-old cryptography puzzle. The mysterious seeds behind NIST's standard curves for digital signatures were provided by the NSA without explanation, raising long-standing suspicion about built-in backdoors. Claude figured out in under 30 minutes that the seeds came from "lrand48," a simple C random number generator, making deliberate backdoors far less likely.
