OpenAI: Using thousands of AI agents to uncover new leads in biological data
See how OpenAI, PerturbAI, and Scripps Research used distributed AI agents to uncover promising research leads in data from millions of brain cells.
Researchers used thousands of AI agents working in parallel to analyze experimental data from millions of brain cells and identify new scientific leads in minutes rather than months. Modern biological experiments generate far more data than scientists can manually review, making it difficult to connect complex experimental findings with relevant scientific knowledge scattered across decades of research. The AI agents examined how gene disruptions affected different cell types, searched scientific literature, and proposed explanations for the results, uncovering unexpected biological connections such as a potential link between cholesterol regulation and neurodegeneration. This approach allowed the agents to cite over 700 scientific references and identify promising research directions that could help scientists understand disease and develop new treatments.

Nearly two-thirds of US doctors are turning to an AI-powered search engine to make patient decisions, propelling a little-known tech startup to a $15 billion valuation while prompting a debate over the future of patient care. Miami-based OpenEvidence, founded by serial entrepreneur Daniel Nadler in 2022, said that many of America’s 1 million physicians processed more than 42 million prompts last month. Doctors are using the company’s chatbot to scour medical journals and clinical guidelines to h

Google kicked off 2026 with the addition of Personal Intelligence to Gemini, allowing its AI to pull in more of your data to formulate answers. It started as a paid feature but eventually came to all Gemini users. However, this feature wasn't available in the car until now. Google is rolling out Personal Intelligence to Android Auto and Google Built-in, and it is still, thankfully, an optional feature. As Google points out, a generative AI's outputs are better "when it knows the world and knows
