Blueprints AI, a bootstrapped startup based in Santa Monica, developed software that produces code-compliant construction blueprints from a photo, PDF, or sketch.
An AI startup has developed software that generates architectural construction blueprints that comply with building codes and are ready for permit submission, starting from a 2D sketch or PDF and producing results in minutes. The founder conceived the idea nearly two decades ago as a thesis project but lacked the necessary technology until generative AI chatbots became available. The software currently handles drafting work that typically consumes about 80 percent of architects' time, with the founders aiming to free architects to focus more on design rather than repetitive documentation. Licensed architects still review and approve all documents before submission, so the technology assists rather than replaces human professional judgment.

At this year's OpenAI DevDay, CEO Sam Altman unveiled the company's new AI agent Dots - and told the crowd that the company wants to "set a new standard for privacy in frontier AI." It says open-source projects that opt-in will get "thorough, periodic security scans by our strongest models at no cost." That could mean open-source projects get alerted about possible security issues sooner, but the trade-off is that OSS Scanner's reports don't come with human review: The outputs of this opt-in vulnerability scanner will be fully model
