Get smart on it

ServiceNow announced new tools for controlling and governing artificial intelligence agents, along with updates to its employee portal that allow workers to build specialized AI assistants and automate routine tasks without coding. The company introduced AI Passport, a credential system that defines what actions an AI agent can take, which systems it can access, and who is responsible for it, with the goal of enforcing boundaries on agent behavior rather than just issuing advisories. These announcements address the dual challenge businesses face when expanding AI use: giving workers powerful autonomous tools while ensuring those tools remain within approved limits and can be paused, restricted, or deactivated if they exceed their authority. The employee-focused updates include customizable productivity assistants and routines that operate within administrator-defined guardrails, plus a tool-building environment that requires no coding.
