Replit replaces Anthropic with OpenAI as default model

TechCrunch: Replit is no longer working with Anthropic, CEO says

Over the weekend, Masad clarified that OpenAI would replace Anthropic as its default model provider. Claude will still be available to customers on the platform.

Get smart on it

Replit, an AI coding platform, is no longer making Anthropic its default AI model provider and has instead partnered with OpenAI, according to the company's CEO. The decision was based on cost, partnership considerations, and performance metrics, with the CEO stating that ChatGPT performs better on certain benchmarks. This matters because Replit was previously a top-five customer of Anthropic, and switching defaults will likely significantly reduce spending with that company since most users stick with the preset option rather than selecting models themselves. Anthropic's models are still available to customers who choose them, but OpenAI is now the preferred partner for powering Replit's main product.
